our thug governor is worried, not that it violates any freedoms, he's worried it will discourage foreign businesses from coming here, otherwise he's all for it.

tennessee

1. When my grandma came here from Poland she HAD to learn English
There was no bi-lingual anything. If people want to come to American they should learn English.

Married his English Teacher. (Mom speaks English, Japanese and Korean fluently.) I am the result, and as for me.. My first language is English. My family refused to teach me Japanese. If I wanted to learn it, I had to go to school, which is exactly what I did. I am still learning.. and yes, now they help me.. on occasion.

11. Wrong.
There have been multi-lingual services available in every wave of immigration the country has ever had. In 1900 there were 23 Yiddish newspapers in NYC alone. Along with dozens of Italian, German, Russian, Czech, and yes, Polish papers. There were often foreign speaking officials in post offices, license bureaus, etc, because the people who filled those jobs were themselves immigrants, or of immigrant families - just like today. And just like today, immigrants learned English with varying degrees of success; their children were raised bi-lingual; their childrens' children spoke English only.

If you want to be proud of your immigrant heritage, you might want to learn something about it.

8. Be careful with that kind of language
Use the term "native tongue" around Teabaggers and they think it's a sex act with a woman of color.

13. So does that mean that non-English-speaking tourists
can no longer rent cars there?

These people are so fucking stupid that it defies all logic.
