Couple years ago, I was feeling pretty good that somehow we were going to survive the recession. Then things started going downwards, to the point where 2010 was basically a shitstorm; hopefully next year will be an improvement. I will be diversifying to ensure that it is. However, there were some bright moments, such as good things happening to some family members.

I have a lot of personal reasons to do so, but as a country, as a political force, we all do too.

It MUST get better. DADT repeal is a great start, I'm very happy about that. I hope it's the launching point for many more reforms.

62. I've had a very good year, in spite of some very bad things.

You know, life. Health scares and friends dying and my children struggling to get young lives going during tough economic times. The wheels of government turn slow and not always in the direction I want, but they turn and it's fascinating to watch. DU sustains me sometimes and makes me want to run screaming sometimes, but it's never dull.

Here too! Lost my beautiful (Democratic) father, had to make the decision to put my Golden Retriever to sleep, almost put myself to sleep at one point, and my once thriving, fun business is on life support. May yet lose my house although I'm fighting to keep it.

All in all a shitty year. But I'm not done yet and am grateful that in all the dismal times, I come here and find some like-minded people with high principles and frequently a sense of humor and take on things that makes me smile.

So thanks to all of you and let's make the coming year a whole different experience ie GOOD!!!
