Egypt protests
8 February (part 2)
• Hundreds of thousands of protesters rally in Tahrir Square
• Vice president Omar Suleiman gives new concessions

Here's a summary of events so far on day 15 of the protests:

• On the two week anniversary of the start of the protests, hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets once more to show their opposition to Hosni Mubarak's regime. Many say it is the biggest demonstration so far and protesters claim it shows that momentum of the demonstrations has not been lost.

• While Tahrir Square has once more been the focus of the demonstrations in Cairo, there appears to be a second front opening at the parliament building in the capital (5.36pm) where thousands have gathered amid talk of a sit-in. Demonstrations have also been held in other cities, including Alexandria, Ismailia, Assiut, El Mahalla El-Kubra and Suez

• A number of workers have walked out in apparent solidarity with the pro-democracy protesters. They include journalists and thousands of workers on the Suez canal and from Telecom Egypt

Egypt protests: Hosni Mubarak's concessions rejected
February 8, 2011

Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians have poured into Cairo's Tahrir Square for the latest protest calling for Hosni Mubarak's government to step down.

Correspondents say it is the biggest demonstration since the protests began on 25 January.

It comes despite the government's announcement of its plans for a peaceful transfer of power.

In Tahrir Square, attempts by the army to check the identity cards of those joining the demonstration were abandoned because of the sheer weight of numbers.

Egypt Protests Swell Despite Government Steps on Reform
February 8, 2011

The government of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has announced new reforms as thousands of protesters continue to camp out in Cairo's Tahrir Square, demanding Mubarak's ouster. The protests are in their 3rd week.

It was the latest effort by Mubarak's government to give the protesters an incentive to go home, as the demonstrators call for more people to join them.

1. I wish the people of Egypt could somehow seize the Mubarek family assets...
through legal means. Seize their properties around the world and have the estate liquidated -- they can retain one home, like in bankruptcy -- with the proceeds put to good use in their country, for the people....FINALLY.

3. Now you are talking like a Democrat.......
That was strictly a facetious statement on my part. I like what you stated and know that it will never happen, but, an excellent thought OneGrassRoot.

4. I'm afraid this round is over

As much as I wish I could be with them, I think that when Frank Wisner made his statement (which was NOT a rogue statement, i.e., he was stating US policy as formulated by the permanent government), that was the signal that it was over. Having said that, what we saw was a peek at the future. The global police state is almost completely in place. And all we will have left to resist is our flesh and blood and bones.

Sadly, Egypt is going to become far more brutal now. The agitators have been identified. Our rulers do not procrastinate in handling problem individuals. That's why they occupy their positions.

ON EDIT - I pray I am wrong.

5. Hardly over. It's just round one in a ten round fight.

And the regime took some pretty hard punches.
