Denmark is good at integration (of immigrants), says EU
http://www.cphpost.dk/news/national/88-national/50924-denmark-is-good-at-integration-says-eu-commission.html

Denmark comes in fourth place among the 15 original EU countries, when it comes to bringing non-EU immigrants into the job market, writes Berlingske.

According to figures from the European Commission’s statistics office, Eurostat, which also cite a workforce study from Statistics Denmark, Denmark is fourth best at getting immigrants from non-EU countries working. Some 60% ofnon-EU immigrants in Denmark were working in 2009.

Denmark’s fourth-place standing came as no surprise to Danish experts. “The whole immigration debate in Denmark is relatively shrill, but that’s a different issue than immigrants not being integrated into the job market,” said Anette Borchorst, professor of Socio-Economics at Aalborg University."

Peter Nedergaard, an expert in EU employment policy with the University of Copenhagen, agreed. “It’s consistent with the general fact that we have lots of people in the job market in Denmark. In that regard, we are usually near the top in the EU. It’s the same for immigrants in Denmark. On the other hand, we don’t work as many hours as other EU countries do,” he added.

The "whole immigration debate in Denmark is relatively shrill" refers primarily to the Danish People's Party ("right-wing populist party").

"The party holds that Denmark is not naturally a country of immigration, and that it has never been so. The party also does not accept a multi-ethnic transformation of Denmark, and rejects multiculturalism.

The party opposes a cession of Denmark's sovereignty to the EU, wants to maintain the Danish krone, and opposes the accession of Turkey to the European Union. The party supports Israel in its conflict with Hamas and the US-led War on Terrorism."
