Rick Scott in Florida is about to bring those who voted for him to their knees. Well deserved!
BY MARC CAPUTO AND STEVE BOUSQUET
Herald/Times Tallahassee Bureau
EUSTIS – At a highly partisan tea-party event on Monday, Gov. Rick Scott unveiled his first budget proposal, one that makes sweeping changes to state government by slashing billions in taxes and spending.

Scott proposed spending almost $66 billion — $4.6 billion less than this year’s budget. Scott also wants to eliminate 7 percent of the state’s government jobs, which would mean about 6,700 state-worker layoffs. He wants even more cuts the following year.

3. Scott proposes $3.3 bill cut to education
http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/news_politics/2011/02/scott-proposes-3-3-bill-cut-to-education.html

So many places have stopped the buses, cut back school hours and fired teachers. I have no idea what rocks he intends to extract blood from this time.

5. BTW, over 2.5 million people voted for someone else.
So this Floridian doesn't appreciate the "well deserved" sentiment one bit--WE have to live with it and YES we voted!

15. AMEN ! Lot's Of Us Voted For Alex Sink!
And just for the DU record..... Lot's of folks here poo-pooed our last governor, Charley Crist, just because he was a Republican. As a Floridian,I can tell you, Mr. Crist was an angel compared to this guy.

17. Many on the left bashed Crist and anyone who suggested he might be better than Rubio..

Now Florida has a ruthless teabagger lunatic senator to work hand-in-hand with a like-minded governor. Fools.

edit: typo.

9. He's also cutting public parks
So that the same people that complain that the Yankees ruined everything will watch parkland turned into Walmarts.

10. Closing parks in a tourist state is insane
But then, Jeb cut the budget for promoting tourism at state parks so now Scott can justify closings because there are fewer visitors.

20. So all those state workers who will lose their jobs voted for him?
Edited on Tue Feb-08-11 10:08 AM by WI_DEM
millions of people voted for his democratic opponent, you know? and many of them will be the ones getting hurt the most while those who voted for him, in many cases--not all--are probably better off and can withstand this much more than others. So actually the ones getting hurt the most will be the people who voted against him--minorities, the poor, students, elderly folks who depend on many state services, etc.

24. Actually most of the state workers I know here in Tallahassee are Democratic
If you look at the maps of Florida, Leon County, where Tallahassee is, is a little blue island up here in the red Panhandle. Jefferson and Gadsden Counties to the east and west are shading less red and may be up to purple but Leon is solidly blue. In fact it looks as though more of the surrounding counties are going blue!

23. This is going to be at least twice as bad as the Ohio disaster.
Unfortunately, these Teanuts will have to ruin their states like Bush ruined this nation in order for people (especially seniors) to actually vote for the best candidate to govern their state.
