Governor Paul LePage (R-dumbass) may dump Maine's e-waste statute
http://www.pressherald.com/news/maine-may-dump-e-waste-statute_2011-02-06.html

Surrounded by towering piles of electronic equipment, a half-dozen workers at eWaste Recycling Solutions spend their days prying apart old TV sets and computer monitors.

<snip>

"Before, the cost was borne by municipalities, or the consumer paid a tipping fee at the recycling center," said Rick Dumas, chief executive officer of eWaste, which employs 15 to 25 workers a year.

Dumas and his employees are among the beneficiaries of Maine's seven-year-old electronic waste law, which was designed to prevent electronic equipment from filling up landfills and releasing toxic substances into the environment.

The law is also one of the environmental measures that may be subject to a repeal effort by Gov. Paul LePage, who is looking to slash environmental regulations that, in his view, get in the way of a friendly business climate, job creation and an improved economy.

<more>

Yeah moran - let's bill taxpayers dump toxic waste.

1. it's physically painful to think of a guy like that as
governor of Maine.
What is his policy on the awful LNG proposal for Passamaquoddy Bay? Do you know? I shudder to think. .

4. No - it's a teabagger wet dream
and has nothing to do with energy policy as much as it is "payback" for environmentalists.

yup

6. the Passamaquoddy Bank LNG proposal
is at least as bad, even possibly worse.. it would endanger a key marine ecosystem, the migration path of the endangered right whale (among others), the local fisheries, and local environment-based industries such as aquaculture and tourism. And the dream that the project would help local unemployment is just that -a dream: what do you bet that almost all of the jobs would go to oil-industry outsiders?
Like all the Georges Bank drilling, the benefits are debatable, and the costs very, potentially tragically, high.

7. I hate, hate, HATE that he won the election. Or rather it fell to him by default because
we had two other candidates split the center-left/left vote. Baldacci looked into Instant Runoff Voting, but the people who count the votes in this state didn't want it. x(

9. Exactly - LePage whipped up the anti-welfare vote
but that's not his focus.

His focus is put money in his family's and cronies pockets.

At our expense.

yup
