Who's side are we on? Hard to tell.
CNN
U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton signaled that the United States is backing a transition led by newly appointed Egyptian vice president. "I think it's important to follow the transition process announced by the Egyptian government, actually headed by Vice President Omar Suleiman," she said.

However, the envoy who delivered a message from U.S. President Barack Obama to Egypt's leaders this week, Frank Wisner, told the conference via videolink that Mubarak must remain in office, despite protesters' call for his resignation. U.S. officials emphasized that Wisner was speaking for himself, as an expert on the region, and not for the Obama administration.

"President Mubarak remains utterly critical in the days ahead as we sort our way toward the future," said Wisner, a former U.S. ambassador to Egypt.

6. If that's the case
then a recall should be imminent.

However, if our politicians have any skills at all, media and message control is it. This kind of thing can often mean a deliberately mixed message, which would be consistent with a strategy of trying to appear friendly to both the people and the government - so that whoever wins out in the end, we will be able to say we were on their side all along.

4. Actually, I don't think our GOVERNMENT is on our PEOPLE'S side. Not at all.
And I am furious with this so-called "diplomacy". They are going to hang those brave Egyptians out to dry. They're just easing us into it.

5. Shoulda put "our" in quotes.
I am pretty sure our government is NOT on the people's side at all...regardless of the country.

Yes, this "diplomacy" is a joke for the people, that's for sure.

3. Suleiman and Mubarak. Six one way, half a dozen the other.
Doesn't matter which. Although, it does matter that they can't stay on message.

Neither choice is the right choice.

Edit

And clearly part of a very vague and poorly coordinated strategy.
