Charlie Sheen: 2 wars going on, Egypt, and all you people care about is my bullshit?
Charlie Sheen: 'Rumors about me are crap'

Charlie Sheen has reportedly insisted that most of what is reported about him in the media is "crap".

Speaking to E! Online, the Two and a Half Men actor refused to answer to rumors including his alleged relationships with several porn stars, his apparent drug and alcohol addiction and his position on the CBS comedy. He instead suggested that people should be more focused on world affairs than celebrity gossip.

"Believe nothing. I will never speak about any of this as long as I'm alive. You're all gonna have to keep towing the same redundant line, guessing wrong," he is quoted as saying.

"By the way, two wars are in an endless state of sorrow. Egypt about burned to the ground, and all you people care about is my bulls**t?

"Shame, shame, shame," Sheen added.

It's such a waste of ink, all the garbage I see being printed about him. I don't really care one way or the other, just wish it wasn't in my newspaper on the way to the puzzle page.

I don't pay much attention to his private life. Hope he's not hurting anybody. If he's not, I'm for him.

33. awesome movie called "Starsuckers" about how the media culture came into being
http://www.mefeedia.com/watch/30938165

Starsuckers is the most controversial documentary of the year, and was released in British cinemas in November 2009 to critical acclaim. It's a darkly humourous and shocking exposé of the celebrity obsessed media, that uncovers the real reasons behind our addiction to fame and blows the lid on the corporations and individuals who profit from it. Directed by Chris Atkins, BAFTA nominated for Taking Liberties, Starsuckers exploded into the news in October when it emerged that the team had been selling fake celebrity stories to all the British Tabloids. This became a news sensation in it's own right, and was followed by the darker revelation that Atkins had secretly filmed four journalists for three Sunday tabloids trying to buy medical records. The filmmakers also stung Max Clifford, who the film shows boasting about his clients on undercover camera. When Clifford found out, he hired the infamous law firm Carter Ruck and threatened to injunct the film which would have prevented it's release. The film ends with a damning critique of Bob Geldof's Live Aid and the star-studded Live 8 concerts in 2005.

64. EXACTLY! And all this other bullshit that I've seen...........
EVEN IN THIS THREAD about hating on Charlie Sheen is just what he said. It's bullshit. The guy is a ACTOR for God's sake. He ain't no fucking role model to quote another entertainer. I watch his show, I enjoy his show, but I don't follow all the twists and turns of his personal life. Not only does it not matter, I ACTUALLY DON'T CARE! That's HIS life, not mine. If he hurts somebody else, I want him controlled. If he's hurting himself, I'd like for him to not do so. But that's as far as it goes.

Hell, maybe I've lived in middle Tennessee for too long. I never followed the country stars that much either and I was in that business for a couple of decades plus.

though I see the man's point.

He's not obsessing about us, only remarking about our obsessions with his escapes from reality via high-dollah distractions.

We're all distracted or we'd go insane. It's easy to judge people whose self-destructive distractions are so public, that's all.

Makes us feel special and all moral and stuff.

It's human nature to be celebrity obsessed. Celebrities are the alpha male/females that appeal to the "lower" parts of our id.

52. Bread and Circuses, people. Bread and Circuses.
It's an old formula. The unfortunately crippled, like Mr. Sheen, make wonderful center ring attractions for the Circus. And the circus distracts us from the real horrors going on in this world. (To say nothing of the lack of Bread.) I'm saddened by Charlie, because he has a real gift for comic timing. I've been an actor and I've directed actors, so that kind of ability leaps out at me. I used to wonder who the "half" man in "Two and a Half Men" was. Now I know, and it ain't the kid. Anyway, I think he's right. The whole world should be focusing on the effort going on right now in Egypt to get rid of the bullies. And WE (DU) should be concentrating on getting our wonderful country out of the drainage ditch that is the Afghanistan War. Please, let's not distract ourselves with this small man's very real shortcomings. I think he's asking that we Leave Him Alone for awhile. Doesn't everybody have a right to be left alone? If not, just who the hell are we, anyway?

63. HAHAHAHA Good one Charlie!
He's got drug and woman problems? So do many other Americans. It's just that Sheen makes millions of dollars a year to play a divorced, flirty uncle on television. And he's right that people should stop following celebrity gossip as someone who's the target of tabloid trash talk that distracts us from the more important issues like the idiots running Congress, the military industrial complex, and the battle for democracy in Egypt.

71. Bullshit? His show? Oh, and add to the list the decline in quality of television shows.
But let's not go there, Charlie. You have a couple of million per episode to recant lines from writers two steps up from "OW! My BALLS!

74. I agree with Charlie on this one
All of these "screwed up celebrity" stories, from Charlie to Lohan, to Cyrus to (fill in name here) are a creation of the media by, for, and about the media. While the "general (Read: low IQ) public" has their "minds" on this trash, This Nation is going to pot. At the same time overseas, repressed people of other Nations who say they believe in what The US used to believe in are being beaten and shot, while the American Government goes after their latest in a long line of "Friendly dictators gone bad" with a freaking feather duster!!

All of you wankers who spend time on this weak minded gar-bage had better pull your heads out darned fast, or you're going to wake up from this media induced nightmare and find out that you used to be the Land of the Free and the home of the Brave. The way I read America these days is more like the land of the (willfully) ignorant, and the home of the oblivious.

American principles deserve better than this after more than two and a third centuries. But I'm genuinely driven to ask myself if America has any foundation left if a majority of her people care more about "Celebrities" than they do about the freedom of fellow Human Beings.

Relatively speaking...yeah. It's very funny at times. It's much less obnoxious than Dancing with the Stars (I hate the arts turned into a sport)

But it can't beat RuPaul's Drag Race!

81. Out of curiosity, what do you find funny about it?
I watched two episodes and I found it to be completely contrived and not original in the least bit. It's like I already knew everything that was going to happen because I've seen it in another sitcom.

Not trying to criticize you or anything, but I'm just curious as to why the show is so successful.

95. There are plenty of decent shows on Network TV
In sitcoms alone: 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, The Office, Modern Family, and The Big Bang Theory are all well written shows (although The Office has definitely run its course). I haven't seen some of the other sitcoms currently airing, but they might be good.

Two and a Half Men simply isn't funny or clever. At least not the episodes I watched, anyway...

96. Modern Family
Very Funny Sitcom by far this year.

It is the sitcom on the same network list that broadcasts "The Middle" is also very funny to me. Daughter Sue strikes me as hilarious! She's an up and comer VERY young comedienne, I think. Her facial expressions and timings are way beyond her years.

104. I think Mr. Sheen
is correct and he is pointing out what is obvious to most of us on DU. The "NEWS" is supposed to inform us, not entertain us. By keeping the hollywood "crap" in the headlines, it is a great reason not to cover the real news concerning the TPTB in our world. It distracts the people from taking action against the injustices that we should be addressing. It is meant to do just that and TPTB insist that THEIR networks do this. Leave the star sightings and drama to the National Enquirer, I believe Rupert owns that too (?).

There's a reason he does TV instead of the Big Screen: More than 22 minutes of Charlie Sheen will probably make people violently ill ala the way Mary Hart's voice was alleged to give a woman epileptic seizures.
