Anderson Cooper is a brave guy.
Edited on Thu Feb-03-11 07:48 PM by cali
I know a lot of folks here don't like him, but the guy has guts. He's been attacked twice in the last couple of days and he's still in Cairo. I admire that. And I hope he makes it home safely.

1. For a guy born with the proverbial silver spoon. .
He has a great deal of intestinal fortitude. He gets extra credit from me for busting out of class based perceptions.

6. Exactly. He could have lived a comfortable life as a trust fund
baby instead of putting himself in dangerous situations.

24. Absolutely, I respect him for the choices he's making. He doesn't have to
do this if he doesn't want to. I commend him.

29. Have thought that about him
in that context since I learned his Mom is Gloria Vanderbuilt. He doesn't need to do this. Good on you, Anderson.

2. I saw an interview he did a long time ago
He could not get an interview anywhere because they saw him as some rich kid looking for a free ride, so he bought himself some camera equipment and a plane ticket and headed into the crumbling Yugoslavia mess. he thought if he got lots of good footage, they would take him seriously.

he told of an episode when he was sneaking around with some "friendlies"; who had taken him under their wing, and the first thing they did was take away his RED coat he had brought with him:rofl: They told him the only thing he could have done to make himself a better bullet magnet, was to have painted a bulls-eye on it..

He learned on-the-job, and when he started sending his stuff to media places, he had no trouble getting hired:)

5. Yes, I also remember he stayed in Haiti long long
after the others had left. Anderson wanted to stay even longer but the network refused and made him come back.

10. Anyone who stays in Egypt to bear witness to the truth is a hero--Anderson Cooper included.
Sure, I've joked about him, but the guy's heart is in the right place and he's tough as nails. Alot of reporters would have been out of there after what he went through.

19. He took a few good shots.
I don't think it was staged. He was lucky they didn't strip him naked and send him running down the street in a bloody pulp.

18. He's the closest thing...
to a big name war correspondent as we have today. Some of the clowns we have on MSM who pretend to be journalists couldn't carry his bucket on their best days.
