Here is a strange one.
CBC (Canada) reporters got invited to a Pro Mubarak barbecue, yesterday. They were in the top floor of a highrise. This was just after Mubarak's last speech. They were happy, singing eating. Well off, well educated, they all spoke good English. They were saying things like "transistion time" "elections in 8 months" and "Mubarak loves us,he is leaving us a democracy"

Then the violence started below, they started crying. The dream of a peaceful transition over, one man said.

They must've been part of the regime, but were ready for change. I am puzzled by this.

2. The loyalists expected months to burrow in, to set themselves up in secure positions
Mubarak blew it for them.

3. I think that is the answer.
I couldn't understand their intial happiness. Now they may have to scramble out with just their shirts.
