The Birther Plan To Block Obama's Reelection
Source: motherjones.com

The birthers have a plan to end Barack Obama's presidency—and in Arizona, they're making progress.

Last week, Arizona state Rep. Judy Burges, a Republican, introduced a bill that would bar presidential candidates who do not prove they were born in the United States from appearing on the ballot in the Grand Canyon state. And state Rep. Chad Campbell, the top Democrat in the GOP-controlled Arizona House of Representatives, tells Mother Jones that the bill is likely to pass. It was introduced with 25 co-sponsors in the House and 16 co-sponsors in the state Senate; the measure needs 31 votes in the House and 16 in the Senate for approval. "Will it matter?" asks Campbell. "We've started a tradition here of passing legislation that is political grandstanding or that sets up litigation."

1. We really need George Soros
to start acting like the Koch Brothers (I say that somewhat tongue in cheek). ;-)

Here at DU we'll get outraged but we'll do nothing. We won't go and scream and holler 'kill him/kill the bill' at our House Members Town Halls, we won't have outsiders come in (like in Prop 8) and make trouble - we're just going to allow it to happen.

4. We've got to...somehow.
I know what you mean. We're going to have to reconfigure outrage. We don't act like the Teabaggers, because they're thugs. I
think we're gonna have to do it through sheer reinvention, and evolve.

26. Why should this be any different then the deafening silence over the 2000 election? We were silent
then as was the senate. All it would have taken is ONE senator to stand in support of the house members who protested the supreme court selection of G.W. Bush. In the alternative we could have and should have been on the streets demanding that the recount in Florida continue until complete. Our silence facilitated a political coup d'etat.

28. I wasn't
I was powerless except for my left hand which through a tomato at former President Bush's car during the inauguration misery (notice I didn't say festivities).

And sadly - there are STILL people who don't believe those sumsahbeyotches did anything dirty, illegal, vile, etc. etc.

He was a heckuva guy to those freaking morons.

20. Correct, unfortunately

Look at all the lies and bullshit that has spewed on hate radio this past ten years. Lies, all of it but it spawned the teabaggers, Sarah Palin and bankrupted the American economy.

13. How would it block anything?
Obama has produced the birth certificate. More than any other candidate did.

And they would then have to demand it of other candidates. If their proof was no better than Obama's, it would have to be accepted too.

15. So since Hawaii cannot produce the kind of birth certificate they
want then anyone without that kind of bc cannot run for president? I think they would be surprised how many people cannot get an original paper trail for the hospital. I have mine and I think my children do but my sil was illegitimate and his is not available. This is crazy.

16. and 10 years ago they wanted an amendment so Arnold could run for President

It seems obvious to me that they will just make themselves look bad doing this crap.

They can pass anything they want and Pres. Obama will still be on the ballot in 2012

21. Arizona has leapfrogged the former title holder Florida and the brief contender South Carolina
to be the new CRAZY state.

The whole operation always reminded me of apartheid anyway. The Dr.King holiday and the Super Bowl started that impression on me.

22. This is such a non-issue.
Let them keep making an issue out of it until the day before the filling deadline then present the requested documation and shut them all up. Taking the wind of the oppositions sails at the last minute is good for reelection.

24. Is David Corn a birther?
The whole article was bizarre--the birthers are the only ones who would think they could "end Barack Obama's presidency" by introducing a bill to require proof of citizenship.
