A ridge of high pressure currently centred west of Saskatoon will drop southward into Montana overnight. Northerly winds ahead of the ridge will give wind chill values at times below -40 to parts of Southern Saskatchewan this evening before winds drop off as the ridge nears. However, the coldest and most sustained wind chill values are expected to develop on Tuesday morning. Southwest winds of 15-20 km/h will pick up early Tuesday morning as the ridge of high pressure moves into Montana. With temperatures dropping into the -30's over most of Saskatchewan overnight this will give wind chill values in the -40 to -45 range for southern and Central Saskatchewan Tuesday morning. At these extreme wind chill values frostbite on exposed skin may occur in less than 10 minutes. Wind chill values will moderate somewhat throughout the day, but will still remain cold..With values in the -30's expected Tuesday afternoon.
