Franken Supports Package: "help create jobs and to help middle-class Minnesotans"
“There's a lot in here to help create jobs and to help middle-class Minnesotans weather this recession: tax cuts for working families, a payroll tax holiday, energy tax credits, and the extension of Recovery Act initiatives that are already making a difference. And a lot of harm would come to working families if unemployment insurance isn’t renewed"

19. LOL
Because if you respect Al Franken, you can't point out that tax cuts don't make jobs?

That's funny.

3. Well. Franken was in DU's good graces longer than most Senators last
I guess he will be duly vilified now as a "corporate whore" and a Blue Dog sellout.

4. Few will escape that fate
I've seen lists indicating only a half dozen or so Dems opposing it.

9. My thoughts exactly
It takes mere milliseconds to go from 'hero' to 'zero' around here. I cannot think of a single individual who hasn't inured the wrath of the hive - not one.

10. Especially ironic since the Blue Dogs oppose this most
People were shocked -- SHOCKED -- that Landrieu helped faux-filibuster this, even though even a cursory look at the blue dogs' positions shows they'll like this less than any other Democrats.

6. This really stings. I read his books and can't believe he would support this.
I guess he just really likes his job and all. Well, if he doesn't think all of this is going to hurt Minnesotans in the near future he has another think coming. Also, if these "Democrats" don't see extortion after extortion down the road from the Repukes they are closing their eyes.

What a load of crap. IMO.

This train left the station two weeks ago. The will to oppose the inevitable is not there. Don't really blame him at this point.
To be sure, we're going down in flames, economic disaster full steam ahead.

23. *nods*. I agree, he is committing the moral equivalent of homicide.
How many people will die because of Al Franken's choice?

More than a 100? More than a 1000?

At what point can we call him a mass murderer?

42. I believe Franken describes himself as a Clinton Democrat.
Edited on Tue Dec-14-10 11:00 AM by Marr
I know you want to say he's been "thrown under the bus" here, but that's just not what I'm doing. I don't think he's really changed, and I would've expected this stance from him. He generally backs up the party's leadership.

It doesn't make him a bad person. I just think he has more faith in the wisdom, sincerity, and good intentions of the leadership than most do.

I'm sure he also understands the long term harm it will do to this nation, yet for the small amount of help it MIGHT do(no guarantee), he is for it? :eyes:

Oh well, when there is absolutely no one helping fight the madness I guess it's time to go mad.
