State of the Union 2011: Obama urges co-operation
President Obama: "We are poised for progress"

President Barack Obama has used his State of the Union address to make an impassioned plea for parties to work together in the divided US Congress.

He called for action to cut the deficit and meet the challenges from new competitors, such as India and China.

Mr Obama said the US was now "poised for progress" after "the worst recession most of us have ever known".

Republicans warn they will reject calls for increased spending, in order to tackle the "crushing burden of debt".

2. And don't forget he loves puppies
How the hell is he going to cut the deficit while doing all that other stuff he mentoned?

It was a great political speech and the president is a great politician.

He could become a great president too if he actually followed through on even half the stuff he mentioned.

I'll believe it when I see it.

3. Listening to the SOTU is kinda like watching one of those '50's films where they talk about

flying cars and shit. And Fauxbama's predictions for the future will probably be just as accurate.

Lowering the corporate tax rate. "Promoting American jobs" in his deal with Korea. "Imposing unnecessary rules on business". ugh. Fuck it.
