Another kind of Cold War
With real ice this time.

Lipnitskaya is only 15 or 16 and she's a phenom. Much better than Tara Lipinski, in my opinion. TL did the jumps and was a great and confident athlete, but was not as fluid and graceful as this young woman. Still that is a quibble. TL was great for her age then and so is Lipnitskaya now. I held my breath through both performances. Just lovely.

1. Oops. As I kept looking for news stories at that site, I see allegations of another kind of detente,
too. Allegations that Russia and the US are colluding to win medals.

The fact that the US has a population of 350 million and has been a wealthy nation for a very long time has, I'm sure nothing to do with our winning Olympic medals. So, depending on what your politics are, it has to be either collusion, or American exceptionalism.

:sarcasm:

3. Collusion wouldn't surprise me in the least.
Both nations are desperately in need of a fix of exceptionalism, both real and imagined.

I bet if they had it to do over again they would agree to keep the cold war going, but only as a facade.

2. I watched.
There is nothing quite so pleasing as a young woman moving gracefully. It is in our DNA to appreciate it.
