And remind me how anyone knows with certainly if comments made on the internet have come from black people or white people or any other color people.

Story about NBS's apologizing for airing a video of a monkey doing gymnastics immediately after Bob Costas showed a clip of Gabrielle Douglas: http://www.eurweb.com/2012/08/nbc-apologizes-for-monkey-promo-after-gabbys-win-video/

Story about complaints on the internet, supposedly from black people, that Douglas did not represent them well because her hair did not look as good as they thought it should have, specifically kinkiness near her hairline.

Sorry, I just don't believe those complaints came from people who know what it is like to have that kind of hair.

Heck, mine is normally just the slightest bit wavy. Yet, if I walk near the ocean on a damp day, Daddy Warbucks shows up out of nowhere and offers me a hot meal.

(Not my hair color, but you get the picture.)

And, partly because of that, I would never, never rag on anyone of any race for having hair that is difficult to handle, let alone a person this young who had just won a gold medal.

This sounds more like the likes of Don Imus than it sounds like black people.

1. do you know what Gabby's last name, Douglas, is an anagram for?
USA GOLD! :)

yeah, I think the rips on her hair are just comments of ignorance about an Olympic athlete's life and the demands it requires.

2. Meh. I don't even give them ignorance as an excuse, but i am not as kind as you are.
Everyone in the U.S. over 18 knows how self-conscious American females her age are about their appearance. That alone should keep the mouths of human beings with any empathy shut.

Even if she had to just stand there and be seen on TV by just about everyone on earth, that would have been excruciating enough for anyone, but especially a girl her age. But, she had to do her athletic stuff, too. And what a life she has had! Remarkable young woman.

I could be going overboard, but I think the hair stuff is racist, no matter which color the people are who are ranting about it.

I bet I could find a lot about their appearance to rag on, too.

But enough of my venting.

Great anagram! Thanks for that.

3. Kee-rist! I thought Gabby's hair
was really cute. I guess my hair judgment is askew.

4. This is great!
"Heck, mine is normally just the slightest bit wavy. Yet, if I walk near the ocean on a damp day, Daddy Warbucks shows up out of nowhere and offers me a hot meal."

Funny shit, dude.

My hair is similar. I was always envious of people with straight hair. I learned to blow dry mine out straight. But high humidity or a sudden shower will destroy my efforts.

5. I feel your pain.
And I always wanted straight hair, too.

And coveting other people's hair only made me sadder because it never gave me thick, straight hair, like my mother and sister. (And, of course, they both wanted curls.)

Finally, I decided just to be grateful that I have hair. And, if I lose it, I will try to be grateful anyway.
