Keith Olbermann - how about Comedy Central for your new digs?
Edited on Fri Jan-21-11 10:51 PM by RiverStone
There are only 2-3 shows that I ever watch regularly, Keith Olbermann is one of them!

Assuming KO wants to continue in TV, it seems a good fit might be to join the likes of Jon Stewart (Daily Show) and Stephan Colbert (Colbert Report) on Comedy Central.

Even if he cut Countdown to 1/2 hour, his mix of kick ass commentary and humor would be a good fit. Just Googled this - Viacom owns Comedy Central. Not sure where they stand.

Other ideas for channels that might be KO friendly?

Where ever he lands, hope we get to see KO again soon!!! Keith rocks! :headbang:

On edit: Make that Jon (minus the h)

1. Apparently Comcast just bought Universal, which is Viacom, which owns Comedy Central.
This is crazy.

16. Paramount is Viacom. Viacom is the owner. Paramount the asset.

17. Viacom is a stand-alone.

There is no "Universal" anymore. Before this merger, there was "NBC-Universal"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBC_Universal

NBC Universal was formed in May 2004 by the merger of General Electric's NBC with Vivendi's Vivendi Universal Entertainment.<4><5> General Electric (GE) owns 80% of NBC Universal with the remaining 20% owned by Vivendi.<6> The logo of NBC Universal is a combination of the NBC peacock logo and the Universal Studios globe and text.

2. I was thinking Sirius Satellite Radio
Their whole business model seems to revolve around giving celebrities boatloads of money to attract subscribers. And Olbermann potentially could have a larger audience on Sirius than ever on MSNBC.

5. They need a progressive headliner. I like the idea. Good one.

6. The bonus is that Olbermann could be entirely uncensored
Sirius XM, afterall, is home to Howard Stern.

4. I would like to see Olbermann take over Larry King's old spot.
That, or be Obama's new Press Secretary.

7. He could complete the trifecta with Jon and Stephen
Worst persons could be a show by itself. Or Oddball. I'd sure watch it.

9. That's if there isn't a noncompete clause in his contract buyout
If there is, we won't see him for a while.

10. Why would Comedy Central hire Keith Olbermann?
He's a journalist, not a comedian.

12. Do you consider Jon Stewart and Stephan Colbert purely comical?
IMO, they are funny - but also prone to some damn good journalistic talent. They even have serious interviews now and then.

I don't believe the name of this channel assumes all that are on it are comedians, but I don't watch much TV.

13. Point well taken: "They even have serious interviews now and then"...
Olbermann has serious interviews all the time. He even got rid of the fluff interviews about American Idol several years ago.

Stewart and Colbert are not journalists, though that does not mean they are worse than the so-called journalists at the Fox entertainment channel.

But I don't think Keith has the comedic abilities those two have.

15. I've never found political satire
particularly funny. It may be good for a chuckle but I have long thought Comedy Central should get out of the political punditry business. Social satire otoh, I do think is appropriate, i.e. SouthPark, Family Guy, etc.
