job of establishing, managing and maintaining a humane facility for the detaining of prisoners.

This is something that the US prison industrial complex doesn't want you to consider..........

...of my peers decide if that's true than a military commission.

Also, the military kept Jose Padilla in isolation and drove him insane. His military detention wasn't humane.

...are trying to make the Justice Dept subservient to the Defense Dept.

...is by a jury of your peers.

22. that must be sarcasm
I recall some pretty horrifying photos from Abu Ghraib. Plus I know that there are a bunch of additional photos that have not been released, by executive order of the President.

24. Did you not read Post #11? I said I had the treatment of
Ft. Leavenworth inmates in mind when I posted. Not all military police personnel involved in the detainment process are like the sick, sadistic slags that ran Abu Ghraib!

Stop painting the entire military with your sorry, broad brush!

28. But that doesn't mean they should have jurisdiction over civilians.
You are right, however, that conditions desperately need to be improved in our nation's prisons.

33. until all of the photos from the U.S. army are released...
I will paint the entire U.S. armed forces prison system with that broad brush. The treatment of Padilla and Manning are disgusting and 100% against what this country stands for.

8. The Posse Comitatus Act says the army can only be used in ways...
...authorized by Congress.

So Congress can authorize the army to do more without directly contradicting it, even if undermining the principle.

10. It may or may not be a Posse Comitatus issue
but it sure smacks of a Bill of Attainder.

6. Such a bill would have to get out of the Senate Judiciary Committee
and I can assure you that it would never make it out the door. We do still have a constitution you know.
