I have probably made an enemy on facebook over the "war on Christmas BS"
Friend posted this

I'm inviting all my Facebook family and friends to join me in returning to the traditional greeting of "Merry Christmas" instead of the politically correct "Happy Holidays". If you agree with me, please re-post this message. Merry Christmas!

I say Merry Christmas to my friends that are Christian, Happy Hanukkah to my friends that are Jewish and Happy Holidays to all others. I respect each and every one of them and their beliefs.

Oh well. Shrug

3. Seems Like A Good Answer
Far too many go off the deep end if it's not their way. We need more tolerance for everyone has a right to their own beliefs. No one should be judged right or wrong by their answer/comment. Can't we all get along?

4. "Happy Holidays" has nothing to do with being PC
It has to do with recognizing the fact that there's more than one holiday between November 1 and January 2. It also is used when someone doesn't know what holiday(s) another person celebrates (such as when a store clerk is greeting a customer, or when two strangers are greeting one another in passing). Sadly some egocentric whackjobs can't understand that.

6. That's what intrigues me...
Edited on Sat Nov-26-11 12:33 AM by CoffeeCat
...is how some of these "Christians" insist that everything in the world revolve around their
belief and point of view. And if you dare to not follow their playbook--then you are
a hating heathen who is against everyone being joyful on Christmas.

"Happy Holidays" are words only spoken by evil, loathsome people who have no morals.

Seriously, these people are like Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka. Everything must be
there way--and now--or we have to hear about it.

7. I owned my own small business for years and always said "Happy Holidays" or an equivalent. There
are many holidays between Thanksgiving and New Years.

honestly - why bother with someone like that?

I guess I've just gotten to the point in life that I don't want anyone like that to be a part of my life if I can avoid them.

10. You might remind folks that back in the 80's the Christians complained
that merchants were "commercializing Christmas" and wanted them to stop using the Holy Jeebuz' birthday to sell product.

I realize most of them have tiny brains, so their individual and collective memory isn't very good, but they can't have it both ways.

12. Heck, I am old enough to remember when our national motto was E Pluribus Unim. From Many One. It
had nothing to do with God. It was written on all our money. And in those days I got cards this time of year that said Merry X-mas. That was common then.

13. What a shocking thing to say
You should have INSISTED on saying Merry Christmas to all those people of other faiths. If they're not Christians(TM), screw 'em.

20. Social media
without people wouldn't be any trouble at all.

It's not Facebook or Twitter or any of the other things that are trouble. It's some of the dumbasses using them.

Dumbasses, as we all know, are everywhere. At work. On buses and trains. In the stores. On the streets.

What are we going to do...hide in caves?

19. I don't get involved in the stupidity...
Multiple times a day, my FB friends and family are posting that same old "Post this if you agree with me" crap.

Or it's "Change your profile picture if _______".

I don't bother. Nobody cares one way or the other.

Everyone is happy.

22. Why do Christmas cards if you don't want to call it Christmas?
Just say "Happy Shopping Season" and be done with it.

I don't want anybody telling me to have 'happy holidays,' if they don't know who my God is, IF I have a God, or whether I celebrate the holidays at all.

Nowadays, the politically-correct-thing is to acknowledge we are all Happy About The H-O-L-I-D-A-Y-S, but ssssh! Don't say what the holiday is we are all so H-A-P-P-Y about, lest we O-F-F-E-N-D someone!

This is cute. I see only a Santa Clause, a Christmas Tree, and well, I thought it was a boat but I guess it is a gingerbread house and a fence and then the head of another snowman....

Excuse me, are we all pissed off because someone suggested we say Merry Christmas if that is what we want to say?

I don't know what I think about Christmas today, so I'm not saying anything. I don't know anything about Hanukuh and see no reason why I should. I don't believe in the soul-less practice of buying people presents I can't afford of things they probably don't even want, so I am not going to observe that tradition. I don't belong to a Church so I won't be going to one this year, as far as I can see.

When I was a kid, I learned the very politically-incorrect-today dogma that Christmas is the celebration of Christ's birthday. I don't know if I believe in Christ or not, but I do believe in God, and I believe Christmas, or the whole month of December, is for remembering we are created by a being greater than ourselves, and pondering the meaning of that, which I don't pretend to understand.

If you are on my Christmas card list, too bad for you!

Because if you are, it is going to be about Christmas.

B-)
