1. My dear DainBramaged!
Indeed we have DU, and I could not be more grateful for this!

DU has opened my mind to so many new ideas that I can hardly recognize me as I was before I joined.

Cheers, dahling!

2. Same here. It would be "Buy Nothing Day" in this house
even if I wanted to choose otherwise.

But that's fine -- credit card balance is zero and there's food on the shelves.

it's NIB cheap Chinese crap or electronics, there is no aftermarket for it. I have put some really nice stuff on Craigslist this year and got ZERO responses.

6. I would rather buy nothing than shell out for foreign-made products.

The idiots storming the doors at "Best Buy" are killing American jobs.

7. If I had one wish for the holidays
there would be a Black Saturday of great garage sales everywhere, so people could shop at prices within our budgets.

Dain, these times suck for too many people. I hope we all live to see better times with economic justice.

8. We both have jobs...but, who knows about next year? We are not
shopping for anything other than food today. This economy is scarier than hell. We are "lucky" right now...and I mean, right now. One accident or illness, and we are screwed.

11. it's my daughter's b-day
I gave her $50 and she is going thrift store shopping for clothes. Other than that, we are not spending. This Christmas will be small but we'll be together. :)

12. The only shopping I did today was at the grocery.
There is no way I would fight the crowds at the malls.

13. My feeling is....
If is isn't money...than its just something else I gotta dust! (Said in the most *Roseanne Barr voice* you can culminate in your head!) :-)

Seriously, not much I really want or need, to be honest with you.

And maybe someone here can tell me something...just WHEN EXACTLY??? did we all of a sudden become/turn into a society who has just SO MUCH STUFF that the demand was so great so that "storage places" somehow sprung into existence?

Sure, I can understand if you are in the midst of moving and need somewhere to store your stuff in the interim...momentarily...but by and large...don't these facilities largely exist because we just have TOO MUCH STUFF to begin with and have no place to store this crap????

PODS? Since like....when did this appear on the scene????

Kind of absolutely ridiculous...if ya ask me ~

George Carlin on "Stuff": (NOTE: volume might need to be turned up...)

RIP Carlin. He once again nailed it....WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back then ~

15. The origin of Black Friday is a retail
term with the store finally turns a profit. Now it means, your family may need to buy it to wear at you funeral when you get killed trying to buy some more shit to fill the empty hole of life.
