Anybody in Seattle/Bothell/Kirkland just see a huge red light
over (I think) Kirkland?

I'm in Kenmore, north end of the Lake, and looked out the window (South) and saw a HUGE red light in the sky. It was just hanging there. We're in the Sea-Tac flight path and when planes are coming North, sometimes the headlight (or whatever it's called) looks stationary coming straight on.

So, this is what "brake light" would look like going South, until the plane got farther away.

So it shrunk very small, then disappeared - thought it must have been a light on a plane.

Then, it reappeared -- and it was just again, hovering there, then it descended straight down, slowly. I could see the glow behind the trees.

And it happened again -- a little more West - hanging in the sky, then shrink to a really small light, then gone.

Then I was wondering if there was something going on in the lake -- somebody setting off flares, maybe? Didn't hear or see rescue helicopters.

I'm just puzzled.

They were so big and bright - like an illuminated brake light, with kind of a fuchsia tint to it.

2. I assume it was a light you're unfamiliar with, since you seem
to recognize the coming or going of airplanes at SeaTac. If you see it again, try to get a video or photos.

7. The only camera i can grab is my phone and that even sucked
trying to get a picture of the fire I made tonight.

Even if I had a better one I don't know if I'd want to turn away to get it -- wouldn't want to miss anything interesting.

I told Mira the more I think about it the more I'm thinking flare. Just appearing in the sky, hanging there, then disappearing -- like dying. And the one that almost floated straight down. I'm not sure if it went into the Lake or on to the shoreline but I was surprised at how long it was lasting (probably comparing it to how fireworks fizzle quickly during their descent) and wondering if it actually landed.

It's so funny how your mind tries to find reason to something that's so unfamiliar.

10. Sun set was 5 hours ago. Though here in the Pacific NorthWet we do sometimes panic at the sight
of the day star.

5. Back a while, like 15 years or so, my son and I saw a UFO while we

were driving/riding on the highway.
We still marvel at that we really don't/do remember seeing it. And every 5 years or so we bring it up.

These things, like the pain of child birth, have a way of disappearing into our memory banks.
So I suggest you save your memory and the words of it. Disregard the ones who make fun of you.
I suspect what you saw was something we all wish we could see, and rarely do.

And in the case of my son and I, we did see something other worldly, but were too startled by and possibly interfered with to really remember.

6. I'd be thrilled, but it didn't act "strange enough" if that makes
any sense. The more I think about it, I'm thinking flare, maybe, although I've never really seen one.

I'll let you know what I find out.

9. Question, gateley: Did you see the huge red light before or after

you stumbled in from the holiday party?

16. Hiya NYC_SKP!
:hi:

Nope, nothing on Google, called Kirkland PD to see if there had been any reports and was transferred to King County as they have jurisdiction over the water (but Kirkland said she wasn't aware of any being received. Waited forever for the King Co police to pick up, but finally hung up. I'm guessing that if someone called to report it, they probably wouldn't have called King Co - the initial reaction would be to call the local PD, I'd think.

I'm thinking 'flares'. Didn't see anything going UP, just appearing, hovering, then shrinking and fading out, or in that one case, s-l-o-w-l-y descending. Is that what flares do? :)

I'm not too concerned because if there had been a serious distress event, it would have been in the news. It's just odd that I seem to be the only person to have seen them. Do you think that says something about me? :7

But hope you had a great one!

This was WAY South of Everett - and I was looking South, too.

It's just curious.
