Poll question: Are we journalists?
As we travel the country for information, with the intent to post on DU and the web, would we be considered journalists cover by the First Amendment?

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

"...the right of the people peaceably to assemble..."....really?

4. TPTB have discovered over the years that they can kick people around as they
see fit and many citizens are lambs. Hence, the First Amendment is becoming weaker and weaker. Freedom, use it or lose it. We are all covered by what's left of the First Amendment.

9. are ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, and FOX NEWS journalist?
Edited on Fri Nov-25-11 07:04 AM by Douglas Carpenter
some of their people are - but most of them range between peddlers of the pedantic to vulgar propagandist. Remember these are the people who bamboozled George W. Bush into office and then knowingly tricked the American people into supporting the invasion of Iraq even slyly convincing 70% of the American people into believing that Saddam Hussein was behind September 11 - even though they knew it wasn't true and certainly knew that Saddam was no threat to the United States. These are the people who sold the idea that even as the Democratic Party was moving farther and farther to the right they lead many Americans into believing the Democratic Party was as leftist as the Republican Party was right-wing. These are the people the sold voodoo economics to the world for the last generation and have largely prevented any open discussion of alternatives. I think we are at least as much journalist as most "journalist" - but that is not saying a lot.
