No, `both sides’ aren’t equally to blame for supercommittee failure
Here’s why the supercommittee is failing, in one sentence: Democrats wanted the rich to pay more in taxes towards deficit reduction, and Republicans wanted the rich to pay less in taxes towards deficit reduction.

Any news outlet that doesn’t convey this basic fact to readers and viewers with total clarity is obscuring, rather than illuminating, what actually happened here.

1. I'm willing for the Dems to take all the credit for it failing
no liberal I know thinks the supercommittee can possibly produce "good" ideas thus a complete washout isn't failure. I'd be happy to vote for any Dem that stood up and log jammed the supercommittee.

2. Yes, but both are to blame in different ways ...
Rethugs for continuing to push GOP fantasy politics.

Dems for not standing up to them.

4. One Repub member of the supercommittee said flat out the committee was failing
because Dems wouldn't cut SS and Medicare. Said FLAT OUT that was the reason for the standoff.

8. The goal of deficit reduction is idiotic to begin with.
Who is responsible for pushing deficit reduction when we have an ongoing unemployment crisis, global financial crisis and depressionary risks?

9. "both sides are to blame" is a stock GOP talking point.
The GOP use it often to deflect attention away from themselves.
