He used to work for campus public safety. The college and several local schools are on lock down right now. It happened at a Berea graduate's apartment around 7:00 this morning.

2. Berea College, in Berea (about 30 minutes south of Lexington, KY)

He's an ex-marine. He's still at large...apparently with high powered rifles, bulletproof vest, pepper spray, etc. A lot of people knew him, and they're pretty shocked, even though they knew he had problems that the VA wasn't adequately addressing. He apparently had an appointment at the VA this week.

I should add that most of what I'm writing about the particular individual involved are just rumors at this point...but I have no reason not to believe them.

3. God...the more I learn about this, the worse it gets.

Apparently there was a fight last night...he was kicked out of the party, came back, broke a window, threw in some tear gas, and started shooting. What the hell?

There has to be more immediate help for our vets coming home. How easily we forget that Tim McVey was a veteran of the first Gulf War.

I'm sorry this happened on your campus. Living in Lexington, it's hard to imagine, but this stuff can explode anywhere.
