You have this horrifying act being committed by somebody seemingly indifferent - not only to the suffering he's causing, but to the very act itself. There's something about it that just resonates; I'm not sure an artist could have actually captured the metaphoric relation between the 1% and their hired men and the people so perfectly as Lieutenant Pike managed to do by sheer accident. The casual stroll, yes, as casual as walking through a park, but with this terrifying and noxious weapon going - a total disconnect between one's actions and their consequences on people. His campus "stroll" boils down the whole worldview and mindset of the 1% to its essentials. It's quite astounding.

the girl, Christina Olsen, was extremely poor, and she had a degenerative muscle disease, untreated. It left her paralyzed from the waist down. I live in the same town that she was from, still plenty of Olsens kicking around out here.
