Thoughts about FDR that occurred to me as I fell asleep.....
Last night. As I was dozing off. For some reason FDR's famous "I welcome their hatred" speech came into my mind.
In that speech, "they" are the "Economic Royalists" working to enslave men in a new way through the use of technological and financial infrastructures that steer all the wealth to just a few.

Here's the questions that occurred to me as his words drifted through my head:

Did FDR need the kind of money they (think) they do today to run for re-election? (in 1930's dollars)

Wasn't it "Citizens United" 24/7? I mean, The finance laws our achingly corrupt SCOTUS repealed hadn't been invented, yet. Right?

Wasn't there an equally slanted and dominant News environment (think Hearst newspapers)?

Didn't Presidents ride around in open cars back then? Rather than car/tanks? (At least a POTUS' had already been assainated - and president-elect FDR had 5 bullets fired at him in 1933 that all missed (but hit others in the crowd).

I swear, we don't even halfway understand why Obama acts like he does because it seems that nothing is new under the sun.

Barry, what's up with the cowardice?

1. It's not cowardice - it's collusion.

after elected. To me there is really no mystery in Obama, he simply represents those best funding his election. I'll be damn if I'm sending in a few dollars here and there this time despite all of the requests I get via snail mail and online.

2. That's the reason he was elected to 3 terms and is ranked as our country's greatest President.

5. I don't think it's cowardice.
Not sure why we assume he wants what we want. I don't believe he does.

8. But he says he wants what we want.
Anytime we are near an election.... he wants what we want. Then his actions afterward so often are not merely Differing Ideas on how to get there but direct 180 degree manuevers in the opposite direction.

13. "says" isn't the same as "does"
I'd give him an A for effort, but he doesn't even deserve that.

9. I don't think he does either. If Obama were R, all of the D's would be screaming

10. So, if we provide Obama with that kind of majority in 2012...
we're off to the races?

I hope so.

The analogies of 80 years ago are silly. The last comment is rude and wrong.
