We can spend a ton on defense and bail outs. When it comes to helping people on a one-to-one basis it is called 'socialism' or 'hand outs'.
When it comes to health care we hear 'get a job and pay for it', when it comes to new bombs and ships we hear from the right 'this money will save American lives!' - from who and what I don't really know (as we already have an arsenal that could wipe the human race off the planet).
Why are people forced to have fund raisers (see below) to be able to afford something so basic as health care?
Where are the
defenses from the most common enemies of people here? Health care, hunger, homelessness - where is the war against those things?
The right says all we have to do is get a job (even though there are only 3 million jobs open and 14 million without jobs), how about we tell them that we won't pay for any more missiles, tanks, guns, bombs, until they have fund raisers?
Cause last time I checked it was not the people of Iraq or Afghanistan killing people here or inflicting suffering on them - it is lack of care, food, homes, jobs.
Pool tourney raises funds to meet medical needsThe second annual Shannon Moralez Memorial Pool Tournament held Sept. 17 was a big success. With everyone's help, $1,200 was raised to help a family and another $440 was raised for the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center's foundation.
The tournament was held to raise money for a family faced with medical treatment. With so many families needing financial assistance, the family of Shannon Moralez decided to offer three families $400 each, with the hope the small donation would lessen their burden.

Shoppers raised more than $4,000 for Amee Perry, a Mission Viejo mom of four battling brain cancer.
"It's unbelievable," Perry said of the support as she attended the event. The funds will go towards her goal of raising $100,000 to receive specialized treatment at a cancer center in Texas, something her current health insurance doesn't cover, she said. After her brain surgery in June, Perry was diagnosed with stage 2 Astrocytoma brain cancer, nine weeks after delivering her fourth child. Doctors weren't able to remove the whole tumor, which sits on the optic nerve, she said.
