Has Occupy Wall Street given us a solution to one of our biggest problems?

Tim Pool was sharing his live stream via a hand held cell phone with over 30,000 people at a time during last nights marches in New York. For those of us who are news junkies and hold our nose to sift through the corporate news spin of "when are the cops going to crack down on these dirty hippies?" or Erin Burnett's "Seriously," it is very refreshing.

Tim isn't stuck in a stationary reporting position where he does take after take to to get his 3 minute message and his quaffed hair just right, he moves with the story, marching around a corner to come on a crowd of 20,000 protesters or be 20 feet away when a Black Bloc member gets into it with the cops. During the marches, police can seen pointing at Tim and saying "that guy there, he has a live feed." Live chat can give him instant feed back on his reporting and video from real people as compared to some teleprompter reading talking head in a studio.

Thank you to all the live streamers, we will find a way to real journalism yet.

5. The U.S. mainstream media...

were sidelined by foreign media such as BBC, Al Jazeera and others, they linked and streamed Tim Pool's reports and not CNN's, CBS, NBC, etc. It has to be making the bigwigs in the head offices of the multinational corporations more than a little uneasy, to say the least.

Tim Pool showed the public, in the US and elsewhere what REAL journalism is and how little of it can be found in the mainstream any more. A very impressive young man.

Aside from him taking the initiative and reporting, in some cases for 14 - 16 hours straight, he has a real gift for reporting. I was riveted to his livefeed most of yesterday...best reality tv ever!

but a few 5-10 minute breaks. It was amazing to watch and yesterday, he went 15 hrs straight.



His was the best stream and put us viewers right there with him in all action!

10. well to be fair..and i love tim as well..but he was the only livestream on the night it was raided

as he was at a friends taking a shower and couldn't get back in or his equipment may have been confiscated as well...and in those early hours he was almost mugged as he was shooting masked vandals letting the air out of tires. I agree however...he is a treasure and did a wonderful job

No I don't stream, but I feel I am a small part of it, in the written word.

And this is what we need, an alternate media that does not pay homage to well...

You know it is ridiculous when Al Jazzeera does a better job than Media based in NY, for major media.
