A beautiful line from Robert Scheer about Michael Bloomberg and Occupy Wall Street

But only in America is the arrogance of the superrich so perfectly concealed by the pretense of democracy that the 12th richest man in the nation can suppress dissent against corporate rapacity and expect his brutal actions to be viewed not as a means of preserving his own class privilege but as bureaucratically necessary to providing sanitary streets.

1. I could never understand how New Yorkers could vote for him
3 times. Actually considering how much he spent to buy the office I guess it just proves that votes can be bought. And of course the same voters elected Rudy Giuliani twice.

3. I'm starting to understand how he almost lost the election after spending $100 million
Many of the commentators were amazed that Bloomberg almost lost the election, even though his opponent was not well known and Bloomberg spent about $100 million of his own money. Now it is starting to make sense - voters realized he was out of touch with their problems. The rent is too damn high.

7. Actually the Democrat had been city comptroller but too many
people stayed home and he won with very low vote totals. If new York voters had any sense of responsibility they would have voted him, Quinn and any other city council member who voted to allow a third term. It will be a great day when he is out of office. I may come back to visit just to celebrate.
