MP Pat Martin (NDP) unapologetic for F-bomb tweets
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2011/11/17/mb-pat-martin-twitter.html

Parliamentarians were all atwitter Thursday over Manitoba MP Pat Martin's use of off-colour language in a tweet after the Conservative government ended debate on a bill to implement last spring's federal budget.

Although Twitter demands a judicious use of language with 140 characters per tweet, a few select words appeared on Martin's Twitter feed Wednesday.

"This is a f--king disgrace ... closure again. And on the Budget! There’s not a democracy in the world that would tolerate this jackboot sh--."

Martin was unapologetic Thursday: "I don't think I owe anybody an apology. It was a genuine sincere expression of frustration and the public should take note: There's something very wrong going on here in Ottawa."

1. I was watching a livefeed of the Oakland general assembly a while ago
When someone says fuck or shit or pissed, the human mic repeats it.

I agree with Martin. I've had enough of listening to slimy empty "polished" political speak. Give me honesty and real talk. The occasional curse word never hurt anybody.

4. My niece thought it would kill her son. When he was in 4th Grade,
they were assigned vocab work and were to write as many as they could think of. They were working in groups of two and my great nephew's partner wrote down the word 'fuck.' My great nephew started screaming at him in front of the entire class, "Fuck is NOT a word! I have never heard the word fuck and I KNOW fuck is NOT a word!" "Fuck is NOT a word!" His teacher had to finally intervene and take him out in the hall and explain that it really is a word. A BAD word, but a word, nonetheless.

Talk about overprotected.

2. Mr. Martin is absolutely correct...
in both his statements. "There's something very wrong going on here in Ottawa." and "This is fucking disgrace...".

The current rabid right government is doing what the repubs in the House are doing, dismantling the social safety net in favor of subsidizing their 1% buddies. A fucking disgrace.

3. Good for him. All words used appropriately should be welcome.
The only time cussing bothers me is when it's conversational, like every noun has to be a f'ing noun, but it also bothers me when any word or phrase is repeated without meaning. . . I'm thinking of an old valley girl phrase but what it was thankfully escapes me.

Let's be more worried about the dangers of poverty, dangers of war, dangers of failing infrastructure; and let's quit freaking out about the imagined dangers of cussing, consenting adults, marijuana users, .....

5. I heard him on CBC tonight - he was outraged
And so are a lot of other members of Parliament.

The Harper government has used this equivalent of closure several times this session, more than any other majority government in Canadian history.
