11. Allowing callouts is a BAD idea

Calling people out is a bad idea, and it has been a no-no on every large forum I've ever posted on. The reason is because it leads to harassment and very harsh trolling.

Remember Usenet - how call outs used to happen there because newsgroups were open. It destroyed communities.

13. I disagree. DU is the most restrictive website I've ever seen in that regard.

Even the slightest intimation that another poster is engaging in trollish behavior is deleted here. That behavior allows real trolls to flourish, and DU has more (and more obvious) trolls than any other internet forum I visit.

There is something fundamentally wrong with our system of moderation and if it is not fixed the trolls here will continue to drive out thoughtful, valued members.

I won't discuss this further here; I think I've made my position clear.

right now in CT we are trying one of the two men who did the home invasion here, raped and strangled a mother and tied her two daughters to their beds, poured gasoline on them and set them on fire (after molesting the younger girl of 11). That to me is the worst I can think of...
