Michael Jackson was a tremendous musician who inspired and entertained millions, and yes we were saddened by his young passing.

Joe Paterno is a college football coach who covered up the molesting of young boys. Yes he should be fired - and lucky he's not criminally charged.

How in the world do you see "disparity"?

I actually had put that out of my mind I guess. I don't think he was ever convicted was he? Still I know a lot of folks felt it happened and would likely have the same feelings towards him as Sandusky (and by extension Paterno).

Michael Jackson is as "innocent" of the allegations leveled at him as is Herman Cain. In both cases "hush money" was paid to victims.

I didn't interpret the OP as trying to say JP should be left alone bc MJ was praised here. Rather, I think s/he was pointing out how MJ should have been treated like JP is being treated. At least that was my interpretation. If the OP meant it as a way to protect JP, then it is way out of line.
