WH dot Gov Petition: We demand a vapid, condescending, meaningless, politically safe response
https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions#!/petition/we-demand-vapid-condescending-meaningless-politically-safe-response-petition/gCZfn86x

We demand a vapid, condescending, meaningless, politically safe response to this petition.

Since these petitions are ignored apart from an occasional patronizing and inane political statement amounting to nothing more than a condescending pat on the head, we the signers would enjoy having the illusion of success. Since no other outcome to this process seems possible, we demand that the White House immediately assign a junior staffer to compose a tame and vapid response to this petition, and never attempt to take any meaningful action on this or any other issue. We would also like a cookie.

Well, with this one, at least we'd get what we actually signed up for.

1. It just goes to a blank page
Or is that the point?

I love the concept, though.

Other Firefox users seem to be having the same problem, though.

6. So the solution to being ignored is to do one more petition to be ignored?
Excuse me, but do we know the definition of stupidity?

7. That word.... I don't think it means what you think it means.
Here's another one to look up in the dictionary: Sarcasm.

8. It's designed to point out the absurdity and futility of the petitions..
I think it does that very well.

9. I realize that, but what an absurd and futile way of getting a point across.

11. Why is it politically safe to respond to questions with meaningless answers?
The political process depends upon communication. Perhaps there should be a movement by voters to completely withhold support from political candidates who give meaningless answers, and to give some support to political candidates who give meaningful answers, even when the meaningful answers are in conflict with the answers that people want to hear.

Politicians respond to incentives.

This is not a partisan issue.

12. So much of the political process is hidden from the public..
And what we do think we know is almost always some sort of disinformation or misinformation.

The point being that we have very little knowledge of what incentives politicians are actually responding to.

You are however completely correct in your last statement, this is not a partisan issue as such are normally thought of.
