While firefighters were exempt from Walker's budget cuts to state worker's pensions and healthcare, the newly elected Mitchell very publicly joined the March protests at the capitol. Another ironic twist is that firemen were excluded from healthcare and pension cuts and now there is some speculation in Wisconsin that Walker included them for just this reason. So one of them could not run against him and gain sympathy from Wisconsin voters. I think it is a bit of a stretch but you get the point...
