Why Cain is still in the race.
Edited on Mon Nov-07-11 09:23 AM by certainot
Why Herman Cain is still at the top of the Republican field is like one of many political questions that the ‘pundits’ and strategists waste hours on for which there is a very simple answer- Rush Limbaugh and 1000 coordinated talk radio stations.

How long would Cain last if Limbaugh and the right wing radio gods were ordered to swiftboat or ignore him? Cain, like Sarah Palin, is a talk radio candidate.

They love the royal certitude Cain uses to regurgitate the same think tank talking points and myths that team Limbaugh has been prechewing for them and the media for years. And Cain helps them feel better about their racism.

Limbaugh's main function is to attack, as oppose to endorse- that way, to the base, he never has to admit he was wrong. As long as Limbaugh threatens the anonymous victims and their lawyers and keeps them from coming forward, and blames the media, the base will also defend Cain. When Limbaugh stops defending Cain it will be over.

Romney doesn't have a chance without Limbaugh's support. While he isn't as opposed to Romney as he was to McCain, he's going to have to sell the Mormon to the Christians and that will depend of the VP choice. Palin was the bride of Limbaugh, chosen to give Limbaugh the excuse to reverse his long term criticism of McCain for being a 'maverick' in supporting media and election 'reform'. Limbaugh would not have been on board for the GOP convention and a McCain Pawlenty or Lieberman ticket and it would have been a disaster. Once again the VP choice will have to be okay with Limbaugh and the Koch brothers might be paying a lot of money to have Cain on the ticket.

1. Still begs the question of a radio talk show host choosing our next president
via annointing a candidate. Kinda destroys the concept of a democratic (no pun intended) process.

2. Maybe an easier synopsis:
Fundies say "Screw librul elites, screw MSM, screw OBAMA. We don't care if he
SCREWED THE ENTIRE NRA."

It's all about winning!!! YEE-HAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!

3. Useful Idiot. Distracting us from the eventual candidate who will seem like a Godsend by comparison
And also serves to support an empty and false idea: that the RNC would welcome a black candidate.

It's all bullshit.

8. The establishment candidates, including the incumbent, are all weak by historical standards.
Cain is a potential candidate simply because Romney and Perry are so unappealing, in other words. For all their alleged organizational skills, the Republican's farm system seems incapable of producing someone who isn't related to someone.

10. "Swiftbot" allegations are FALSE ones. The ones against CAIN are true.
But I guess if "swiftbot" is being used in the sense of your comrades turning against your own, then well O.K.
