APEC closures and restrictions released, Honolulu locked up

WASHINGTON -- The U.S. State Department has released restrictions and closures related to the events surrounding the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation meetings in Honolulu in November.

Senior Official and Ministerial meetings for APEC's Leaders Week will take place from Tuesday, November 8 through Friday, November 11 at the Hawaii Convention Center.

2. Hoi Polloi refers to the masses, you know, not the elite.

It's a common mistake, but a mistake, nevertheless. I just thought you'd like to know. The hoi polloi are the 99%, the rabble, the crowd.

4. It's a common mistake. Jack Cafferty once misused the term

on the air, and had to apologize the next day, after receiving hundreds of emails. A lot of people think it means the upper class, mistaking "hoi" for high or something. I'm just trying to help people use words correctly.

οἱ πολλοί translates directly from Greek to English as "the many."
