Oliver Stone's New Film 'South of the Border' is online free now.
South of the Border is a 2009 documentary film directed by Oliver Stone.
The documentary premiered at the ?2009 Venice Film Festival. Writer for the project Tariq Ali calls the documentary a political road movie.

Stone stated that he hopes the film will help people better understand a leader who is wrongly ridiculed as a strongman, as a buffoon, as a clown.
The film has Stone and his crew travel from the Caribbean down the spine of the Andes in an attempt to explain the phenomenon of Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, and account for the continent’s pink tide leftward tilt.
A key feature is also Venezuela’s recent Bolivarian revolution and Latin America’s political progress in the 21st century.

In addition to Chávez, Stone sought to flesh out several other Latin American presidents whose policies and personalities generally get limited, or according to Stone, biased media attention in the United States and Europe, notably: Evo Morales of Bolivia; Cristina Kirchner and former president Nestor Kirchner of Argentina; Rafael Correa of Ecuador; Raúl Castro of Cuba; Fernando Lugo of Paraguay; and Lula da Silva of Brazil.

3. Thank you for the tip.
I watched it in 3 parts at youtube but the quality wasn't great and the continuity suffers. Lots of cool parts though, like Evo playing soccer with Stone.

6. Yeah right.
"His movie JFK is a masterpiece. And extremely accurate."

In "JFK," Stone got two facts right.

JFK was shot in Dallas.

Garrison put a guy on trial for it.

The rest is pure fiction.

11.  I like that Stone doesn't do the talking but lets the leaders
of the nation's he visited control the dialogue and conversation.

MAN THEY ALL HATE THE IMF AND NEOLIBERALISM.

Well worth the time.. its almost over now
It really lets majority of South American Leaders
tell it like it is.

12. Correa's comment about the American media --
"I'd be worried if they spoke well of me" is so right on. After the film was released, he went through an attempted assassination, two of his bodyguards killed and our media said he was just being histrionic and it was no big deal.

13. Yeah, I know
You might see this on HBO but I doubt any of networks will ever show this.

Even if you don't like Stone as some here have suggested
I would view this film because you are missing something important.

Like I said, Stone doesn't dominate this film, the leaders of South America do.

19. I got about 1/3 into the video, and then put it aside for other matters.
When I returned a few hours later, I found that it was no longer available. RATS! But I can rent it from Amazon as a download for a few days, so I'll probably do just that.

But here's what may be an even better documentary on Hugo Chavez: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5832390545689805144#
