an inforMATIONAL media would focus on Cain's crooked chief of staff
(Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel: "State firm's cash to Herman Cain may breach federal campaign, tax laws")

rather than the old sexual harassment allegations against Herman Cain from his time with the National Restaurant Association in the '90s.

On PBS NewsHour, Judy Woodruff did not mention Mark Block at all during her "newsmaker" interview with Cain. That would mean of course ABC, CBS, and NBC all skipped the background of Mark Block, who paid a $15,000 fine and served a ban from Wisconsin politics for three years in response to charges of election violations in a 1997 Wisc. Supreme Court campaign. And Block possibly violated federal laws by running a private corporation to offset personal expenses for the Cain campaign.

The sexual harassment story has more shocking appeal, but the campaign law story has a more intellectual one. And the for-profit news media will always decide to take the tabloid direction.
