Rightwing asshat posting "damning evidence" about Scott Olsen
This was on a forum I post on, but I'm sure will get play with Freeperville and the usual suspects.

http://www.verumserum.com/?p=31617

Basically I answered that he and every other American have their right to an opinion about the Marine Corps or anything else, but I smell "James O'Keffe" crap all over this "Ihatethemarines.com" thing. They basically have his facebook photo tied to a site that is "no longer live" but they have him soliciting funds for.

It just looks phony to me, but at the same time I don't know how to fact-check something that supposedly is "no longer there?"

There IS an ihatetheusmc.com site but I don't see him on it anywhere. It's kind of an interesting site btw.

1. this is precisely why I jump on DU-ers for making questionable accusations...
...about the ID of provocateurs.

It's so important to stick to the truth and the evidence. THEY make stuff up. We shouldn't.

2. I just find it disgusting they are digging up dirt on somebody who
has been in critical condition all week through no fault of his own, he is hardly in the position to defend himself!

4. When the Feds went after WACO, the far right went apoplexic
All I could think of at the time was..."join the crowd." War protesters have been getting beaten by establishment thugs for decades.
I bet before it came down, the WACO types cheered the cops abusing "dirty hippies."

5. True! They are pro-beating up "dirty hippies" and therefore
need to discredit the victim if he is a vet.

7. From the site....
a comment from the owner.

"The Marine Corps thrives on its image. They convince young men and women that they’re joining a professional military organization. But that’s not the case at all, every Marine knows it, and most have no problem downplaying the bullshit to outsiders so they can protect their “beloved corps”. I noticed some of the other posters have told you not to pay any attention to my site because we’re just a bunch of ********* who couldn’t hack it, right? Maybe not hacking it means we saw through the bullshit and don’t want to take it. Maybe the brainwashing didn’t work on us. I’m not here to tell you if you should join or not. I’m here to advise you to take the people who visit my website just as seriously as anybody who tries to sell you the MC as a good thing.
My site is anonymous, these people don’t have to worry about hiding from the MC, or protecting the MC’s image or anything. It is unfiltered truth.

The Corps brings out mixed feeling in many of us. The Corps made - or helped make - us what we are. A lot of stuff that has stood us in good stead over the years. At the same time, we learned a lot of shit that is very counterproductive. Good memories... and bad memories. They helped us... and hurt us.

For many, that makes a weird love/hate relationship with the Corps. I feel I can criticize and be very cynical of the Corps..... you can't! I was fucking there! I'm sure Olsen feels that.

He's no different than Gen. Smedley Butler...

“War is a racket. It always has been. It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. War is a racket. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives. I spent 33 years in the Marines. Most of my time being a high-class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism.”
Gen. Smedley Butler, USMC two time Medal of Honor recipient. 8 Purple Hearts

8. That's very insightful, thanks
That's exactly how I saw it -- it's OK if I say something about my family but you better not! What annoys me is just the idea that they are looking for stuff to diss the guy with when he can't defend himself.
