Kurt Damrow was elected last November in a Republican tidal wave. Since then, his time in office, nearly 10 months, has been shrouded in controversy, and now his home county's Republican Party says it has had enough.
By an 18-2 vote, the executive committee voted Damrow out of the Huron County Republican Party. Various reasons were cited, including failing to comply with campaign finance laws, giving inaccurate information about a personal protection order filed against Damrow and using his position to gain support in his wife's custody dispute.
Schwetzer says Huron County Republicans decided to take action after the latest controversy. That's when Damrow filed a criminal complaint against the Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson, also a Republican.
