Obama Nominates Paul J. Watford to Serve on the United States Court of Appeals (9th Circuit)

Nominee for the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit
44 Year Old

  • Clerk to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, U.S. Supreme Court, 1995-1996
  • Clerk to Judge Alex Kozinski, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, 1994-1995


    • According to a LA times article yesterday many are saying he is a "moderate." The 9th Circuit is in bad shape from case backlogs, 4 vacancies, and politicization of the nomination process (resulting in slow or blocked confirmations of qualified nominees).

    Current composition of the 9th Circuit:
    16 Democratic
    9 Republican
    4 Vacant
