Al Shartpon Criticizes Ohio Democrats for "Blame Obama"

When the Reverend Al Sharpton spoke at an annual conference recently for African American elected officials there was no other place in America where you could better see the battle lines that will be drawn in next year’s election.

The Ohio Legislative Black Caucus was having their first annual state dinner, a time for various elected officials in the state to meet, connect and discuss various issues facing African Americans and minority legislators in the state.

Sharpton chastised Black Ohio leadership for rolling over in the face of opposition and failing to represent not just African Americans but the poor and disenfranchised. In particular, Sharpton criticized Black politicians for resting on their laurels during the 2010 mid-term elections which allowed John Kasich to squeak out a 1% win over incumbent Democrat Ted Strickland while eliminating Democrats from state-wide office.

"Most of ya’ll were still dancing from Obama’s inauguration party when the GOP swept into office last year. And now that they’re rolling back everything we’ve accomplished over the last 30 years you wanna blame Obama."

2. I hate Dr. Johnson's first paragraph--NE Ohio is a great place to live
If you want to complain about the "changing weather", move to Florida with all of the other whiners.

Ohio has a lower unemployment rate than those overrated states of California, Florida and South Carolina.

3. Either dancing or, in the case of a lot of people here, complaining
over the speed of passing bills that are now passed. Congratulations guys.

6. Blame for Ohio in '10 should rest on the ODP & DCCC
Many Dems in Ohio were pissed over the party hierarchy treatment of former OH SOS/Judge & Progressive Jennifer Brunner. The party elite decided to sabotage Ms Brunner prior to the Dem Primary by backing a corporate Dem over allowing the Dem voters to select. The DCCC under James Carville didn't even list her candidacy. She was the SOS who did an excellent job cleaning up after the train wreck of Ken Blackwell. She received the Kennedy Centers Profile in Courage Award and yet she wasn't good enough for the party to acknowledge?

If Rev Sharpton wants to place blame on anyone for Ohio '10 then he should attack the party elite and their corporate agenda!

In case you came across this smear of progressive candidate for OH Senator, Jennifer Brunner (came out on the eve of the primary):

http://www.daytondailynews.com/news/election/brunner-says-she-wont-campaign-for-fisher-if-she-loses-tuesday-683022.html

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

"Jennifer has said all along that she is a Democrat and
will continue to be a good Democrat but she has never
endorsed in a race or publicly supported or campaigned for
any candidate – including President Obama - since she became
Ohio’s chief elections official. She has no plans to change
that."

and here she reiterated it again during a debate with Lee Fisher:

Fisher asked Brunner whether she would endorse him if he wins the May 4 primary. Fisher has already pledged to support her if she wins the chance to face Republican Rob Portman in November.

Brunner said she could not endorse any politician because she will remain the state's chief elections officer through the general election.

8. Speak truth to power, Al! "Blame Obama" is the default position for Barack's lazy ass critics.

Too many do-nothing whiners expect the President to fulfill their every wish. Meanwhile, they refuse to help.

What a bunch of spoiled, entitled brats. I'm glad I am surrounded by hard-working Democrats who are holding up their end of "Yes We Can".

11. Pres. Obama has kept so many but either you haven't been paying attention or are ignoring the facts.

Pulitzer-Prize winning Politifact's Obamameter is there to educate you if you're at all interested in facts:
http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/obameter/browse/

If you thought President Obama would do everything he promised in only 2.75 years of WH occupancy, then you were wrong.

If you think what President Obama has accomplished was easy given the makeup of past and present Congresses in light of suffering from a lack of a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate super majority for all but a couple of months in his first term, then you are wrong.

It's so easy to complain, though. Some people think that's enough. Well, it isn't.

It's not "Yes He Can", it's "Yes We Can".

Don't ask any more effort from President Obama than you are willing to give. That attitude is a one-way street to Blame Obamaville, where far too many already reside.

13. holding up their end of "Yes We Can".
Funny how so many thought they didn't need to do this... whining is easier by far.

14. do we know yet what these black elected officials are being scolded for?
Is the electoral result in Ohio because of these black elected officials?

Maybe it is their fault, or partially their fault. Is it?

Or do we just like seeing black people getting scolded by the party establishment?
