2. Royal was sharp as a tack...heck of a wit...
and a good foil for boortz...he disagreed with him more than once one the air and his show "The Royal Treatment" was often quite good (though on very late and i didn't get to listen often).

Rest well, Royal.

4. Boortz couldn't ties his shoes without assistance
I could never figure out how anyone could work for that pile of crap.

Royal and Belinda what'shername must have had something missing to stay around him so long.

5. something missing?
did you ever consider that he might be ok to work for? maybe even good to work for? the show, despite its content, is pretty darned successful and probably gets them pretty good bucks.

7. Sorry.
No money is worth being cooped up with a racist hatemonger five days a week.

8. so the fact that Royal was a black man means nothing about his 'racism'?
why would a black man be effectively 'in charge' of his show (from an engineering perspective) and one of his close friends? they apparently did quite a lot together outside the office.

sorry, i just don't think he was a racist...rather a classist...

10. I don't know - Maybe you could ask Bo Snerdly.
Royal sounded like an OK guy. I'm sorry he's passed so early.

Boortz makes me sick, same as Limbaugh, and I don't care what color their screeners or producers are.

9. Sure, and I bet that Glen Beck is a really nice guy if you just got to know him...
I don't see how anybody could stand working with that gas-bag, listening to him spew his venom over the airwaves on a daily basis.

11. More
Royal and Belinda interviewed at the station and were hired on the same day in 1996.

"Royal was an icon at WSB," said WSB Program Director Pete Spriggs. "I can't believe, frankly, that this is reality. He was a very, very, good man who was very passionate and committed to his wife and daughters, as well as his church and the community. You'll never hear a sharper wit than Royal's. The WSB family is devastated."

Marshall is survived by his wife Annette, and two daughters, Amira, 4 and Ava, 2.

Marshall was also very active in his church and the community. He served as a deacon at the Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur.

He also served as chairman of the advisory board of Forever Family, an organization whose mission is to provide love and support to disadvantaged children.

Marshall was a military kid who, while born in St. Louis, Missouri, lived all over the world. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1992 with a degree in speech communications.

The cause of death remains unknown.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.

A "Remembering Royal Marshall" tribute is scheduled
