The Crackling Sound of Small Arms Fire

When I was overseas I didn't think I'd get used to the crackling sound of small arms fire in the distance, but I did.

But that outgoing artillery! I never got used to that.



They make a sort of crackling sound.

1. Funny how much different it sounds in the movies.

Actual gunfire is almost casual by comparison.

2. I can often hear the San Diego Police Pistol Range from my house

And occasional illegal shots in the distance.

The ones you hear aren't the ones that kill you.
