Occupy Cincinnati protesters think arrests imminent
11:19 AM, Oct. 13, 2011
Written by Carrie Cochran

... Protesters again were cited for trespassing Wednesday night. The Cincinnati Park Board has denied the group's request for a permit allowing them to be in Piatt Park 24 hours a day, seven days a week until the end of the year.

After those who were awake Thursday morning started having coffee and donuts out of their makeshift kitchen, Capt. Doug Wiesman, District 1 Commander, pulled up, along with two officers, who smiled and waved to the protesters.

Wiesman has been having coffee with the protesters each morning in an effort to keep an "open dialogue."

"I talk to some of the folks in leadership positions three or four times a day," Wiesman said. "We have each other's cell phone numbers ...

1. Police May Soon Arrest Occupy Cincinnati Protesters
... Local 12's Tiffany Wilson was in the park on Thursday morning. She says the group has become extremely hesitant to say much of anything to the media. The protesters asked to know the questions they would be asked by Wilson ahead of time and several people backed out of speaking at the last second.

Local 12 received a press release early this morning explaining that there would be no arrests in the park overnight. The press release says one woman was told by Cincinnati Police Captain Weisman that arrests are likely soon.

But soon may not be soon enough for some of the businesses around the park. The Cincinnati Club is hosting two weddings this weekend and the brides who came through yesterday were apparently distraught that the photo opportunities they thought they would have in the park are gone. One bride said she's inviting guests from all over the country and she's disappointed that the first thing they'll see at her reception is a bunch of tents and tarps with homemade signs.

So far, 63 citations have been issued by the city for being in the park after dark. The fine for each citation is $105 ...

2. The bride-to-be just doesn't get it.

The public park is as much the protestors to use as it is hers.
There must be other scenic locations available for free locally she can avail herself of.

3. Do we allow the homeless to live at public parks 24/7?
I'm thinking that is what these protests are beginning to look like.

4. Certainly you are. Because you consider them "dirty hippies".
Really, you'll be much happier over at that other site.

5. Actually it seems unfair that homeless people can't be there if protestors can.
