McDonald's employee fired for letting Vikings star Adrian Peterson use the restroom
McDonald's employee fired for letting Peterson use the restroom

By Chris Chase

An assistant manager at McDonald's was fired after allowing Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson to use the bathroom while the restaurant was closed.

While working the late-night drive-thru shift at 3 a.m., a female employee encountered a man standing outside the window who asked to come inside and use the restroom. After a little while, she realized it was the popular Minnesota Vikings star and opened the door for him to come inside and use the facilities. (The seating area at the restaurant is normally closed during the late-night hours.)

One week later, the mother of three was fired for the offense.

....

There's a silver lining at the end of these golden arches, though: After the local media reported on the woman's termination, McDonald's gave her back her old job.

5. In a related story that will only be reported locally
Family of woman sues McDonalds after she is raped and killed after opening the door for murderer (who 'only wanted to use the restroom') while working solo night shift.

That's probably why she was fired. Better judgment should have kicked in though in this case.

2. Because everyone knows football players never rape or assault.
The woman was wrong. She possibly should not have been fired but she was clearly in violation and I don't think procedure has an OMFG he's a STAR exception.

4. If he was a Viking, he could ram the door and get in anyway
Ok, I'm joking.

6. I do agree.
So, she gets her job back, but is it just because he's a celebrity? Or, perhaps should it be that she should get a reprimand instead?

9. Bingo. (Except she definitely should have been fired.)
As a former manager in a fast-food establishment, I'd have fired her too. This is how people working in fast-food get themselves and coworkers killed and the store robbed. That's literally the textbook case from the security safety training manual: "Person requesting entry during non-open hours to use the facilities." These violations are not small infractions, our policy mandated termination for this.

I'd not have given her job back. If the local media wanted to harangue me about it, I'd have directed them to corporate and legal...it was nice having a corporate policy that made firing for security violations compulsory and non-discretionary.

10. Thanks for a thoughtful, well-reasoned post. My initial reaction was "Fuck McDonalds', but ...
your post caused me to examine the issue from the other side.

8. He was in a rush
And it's hard to stop Peterson when he's rushing.
