Libyan Fighter Plays Guitar During Gun Battle

http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2011/10/11/photo-libyan-fighter-play_n_1004809.html

Oh, give me a home where the Buffalo roam
Where the Deer and the Antelope play;
Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,
And the sky is not cloudy all day.

2. Is his bardic song giving them +2 on their attack rolls?
Sorry, geek joke.

Seriously though, I suppose that's one way to contribute to morale, even if you can't shoot well enough to hit a barn from inside it.

4. They sure like to waste ammunition and fry barrels.
They would never make it in the USMC.

5. Flip flops are probably not standard issue either.
They are rebels. You want them to compare to the USMC? Are you kidding?

8. Sarcasm
They just need a little Fire Discipline.

Nothing like running out when it's needed the most. Blasting the side of a building, just to watch the bullets hit.....

13. I'm not disagreeing. At all.
It just seems that we could give the dudes a little benefit of the doubt.

Speaking for myself, if anything like this ever comes to America, I don't squeeze the trigger until I see a viable target and maybe a few close shots every now and again just to keep their heads down.

But going full auto without a viable target is wasteful. Talk about getting your gun off.

7. I doubt they can even hear the music.
They'e firing 7.62x54r and other AK pattern rifles. Extremely loud without hearing protection.
No way in hell are their ears not ringing and partially deaf.

I shot a 7.62x51 rifle once at the range without ear protection - I forgot it at home.
You can get away with long barrel shotguns or pistols and no protection with minor ringing.
But I packed up that rifle after 5 shots because it was literally *painful* to my ears.

For the record WTF-LOL at carrying a guitar during a gunfight.

9. Yeah, I once did the same thing, 7.62x51 without ear protection.
Nine shots. And the next day I was still hard of hearing on one side.

playing the opening riff to "Stairway To Heaven."

Is Robert Rodriguez shooting a new movie (El Mariachi wins the Libyan Revolution)? Salma Hayek must be just off-camera.

24. Every war needs a soundtrack.
Americans use to do it with fife and drums.

http://ancientfifeanddrum.com/history3.html

Beginning in the late 18th Century onwards, a new military idea began to
run through the minds of the commanding officers during battle. Fifes, drums
and bugles (the field music) were used for communication and a morale booster.
To have better success at winning a battle, the enemy communication has to be
destroyed and the enemy soldiers must not have a morale booster. This indirectly
means to target the musicians. James A. Browne writes in an account of the
Peninsular War at the Battle of Talavera (July 1809), "two bands were entrenched
in a ravine..., and with stirring music, goaded on their comrades, until at length
the French, realizing that the bandsmen were filling their opponents with
dauntless courage, directed their fire on the ravine in the hope of destroying the
musicians."
