Ha ha ha . . . that's cute, right wangers . . .

Elizabeth Hasselbreath was yapping up this graphic on The View today.

Soooooooooo . . . by your somehow awesome logic, because we're not all taking to the looms, the smithies, the mills, tilling the soil, using smoke signals, milkin' the cows, hatchin' the eggs, hunting/gathering, welding us some devices or building our own cars . . . this makes OWS "hypocritical"?

Here's the deal, slapass who made this idiotic graphic and trying to make a little "point" somehow: I can easily turn this around on your dumb ass and say "this is a picture perfect argument for WHY they're protesting"!! Buying local is getting harder and harder to do every day, especially if you don't live in a big city. Corporations can undercut the little guy in cost, distribution and profit/loss, making starting a business and succeeding at it damned near improbable. Everything you pointed to is made by slave labor to make the 1% rich. They still underemploy, overcharge and underpay us while being vastly undertaxed and pocketing fortunes. THAT is what's wrong and THAT's the point of the protests.

You know, it's kind of like when you TeaHadists use public-funded busses to attend your governmentally-permitted protests held in public parks to protest getting the government (really dog whistle for "LIB'RULS") out of your Medicare and Social Security. Or maybe you're using a GPS (DOD cartography) to get there. Then you go home using Hmmmm, THE HIGHWAY with your Support your Troops sticker on your bumper and cook your USDA-tested meat on an OSHA-approved grill and drink certified safe water from your taps. Before going to sleep, you'll probably surf the Internet or watch your Faux News or listen to Rush, who are (gasp) Union Members (AFTRA)!!. Come Monday, you'll attend your job that some buncha commie unions said should only be 8 hours at a fair living wage, with additional overtime pay if you work longer than 40 hours.

Walking that walk?

Same shit.

You ain't "walking the walk" your DAMNED selves. None of us do. Yet each and every ONE of us deserve to make our voice heard when it comes to injustice.

Really want to take US to task, 1%er wannabes?

Somebody with photoshop skills should re-do this graphic. Instead of company names, put "Anonymous low-paid employee made this", or even better, "made in overseas factory #10".

57. Excellent idea. This is the latest Rightwing tactic, you know they
paid some 'genius' to try to come up with an attack on this movement when they are all saying the same things. Can't think for themselves, and their talking points are always so easily destroyed.

They are really frightened. At first they ignored the movement, hoping it would go away, now they are attempting to undermine it, but failing as the numbers grow and grow and spread across the globe.

It's kind of sad watching them use tactics that used to work when they had complete control of the media and the message. But now, they just look like what they are and always have been, whining, weak, helpless, corporate dependent wimps, struggling to keep their heads above water as the huge tidal wave of awakened citizens of countries around the world, is about to drown them out.

The are like fossils, interesting from a historical perspective, but way past the point of being useful.

You see, if we still made most of the stuff we consume instead of offshoring jobs, this would most likely not be happening. Looks like a few decades of "great quarterly profits" is coming home to roost.

47. Just more proof...
.... that corporations and Wall Street will do fine even if regulated. We need all this stuff in our civilization, so how is regulating, and prosecuting criminals in the Corporate world gonna "destroy" corporations? They will continue to make a load of cash after purging them of criminals and regulating them to stay fair. They will not be taxed into oblivion. They will do fine, just as they did when Glass-Steagal was up and running.

It's the UNFAIRNESS of it all. The facts speak for themselves. The rich have gotten much wealthier over the last decades, while millions have fallen into poverty. Something is very wrong.

But it's not anti-corporation. It's anti-"corporations are people."

they have to dismiss them as hippies and lazy marijuana bongo drumming freaks lest the movement be granted legitimacy.

anyone claiming not to understand why people might be pissed off about sustained official unemployment around 9% and a government that refuses to address the problem is lying, plain and simple.

whether they believe the government should do something or not is a political view.

but claiming that no one can have a legitimate grievance is complete crap and they know it.

22. They are simply obtuse. We have no problem with corporations who make products and employ
workers at a living wage. HERE'S the issue made simple for the simple minded:

We REJECT corporate fascism and demand true DEMOCRACY.

Our initial goals:

Overturn the Citizen's United ruling.

End Corporate "personhood".

Enact real Campaign Finance and election reform (if you can't run a campaign on a tight budget, you can't run a town or Nation on one either)

Reinstate Glass-Steagal and regulate Wall Street to ensure that they can't crash the economy again.

Force the rich and corporations to pay their fair share.

Remove conflicted corporate owned justices from our Supreme Court.

Whoever made the graphic shown in the OP is distorting the issue. I don't think anyone has a problem with the corporations and what they make. The problem is what they don't pay in taxes, who they don't employ in the US, and their use of unlimited money to buy unlimited access to the legislative process.

Bill Clinton said "every time they attack you it gives you a chance to get YOUR message out"

and you do that by spending 10% of your answer debunking and 90% putting your own points on the board. So the answer for Haselbeck and this cartoonist is:

"Thanks for pointing out how many manufacturing jobs have been shipped overseas but you seem to be missing the idea that Americans of average means have been marginalized by a government which is all but owned by big money. If one of your banker buddies forecloses on my home, steals my pension fund in a derivative swap scheme or tries to steal the funds we have paid into Social Security, if they give themselves a bonus for boosting corporate profits while not creating any jobs here my response will not include a conversion to Amish."

I mean, I see your point . . . don't give them the satisfaction of legitimizing their bullshit. But at the same time, just ask John Kerry how effective it was for him to ignore/not lend credence to right wing lies and/or strawmen.

The reality is, if it gets wide-spread enough, brain-dead UhMerica will look at this graphic and believe it, as they're so well-trained to do with any RW bumper-sticker-ready catchphrase/cliche.

btw John Kerry won in spite of all the mistakes his campaign made, and then he refused to fight for it in Ohio.

The linked cartoon above is aimed at us. For the RW the PTB message is: OWS = lazy hippie-wanna-bes but for Moderates and the Left the attack is: 'You are hypocrites'

Just like the Al Gore thing -- the RW doesn't believe in global warming so why do they care if Gore flies on airplanes but those who accept global warming as fact are vulnerable to this tactic. This tactic is designed to separate the base from the cause by labeling those participating as "phonies."

The PTB is worried right now about Tea Party people joining into the 99%. In other words they are worried that THEIR base may be separated from THEIR cause.

"This lame "joke" is like telling people who are protesting air pollution, "Yes, but you breathe air anyway." The way our society is set up, you have to use corporate products unless you are living on a subsistence farm in the wilderness."

56. No, just protest naked. And not eat, travel, drink or communicate with anyone.

You mean you don't weave your own clothes or shoes??? HYPOCRITE!!

It's amazing how broad their leaps are when they try to make points. Mike Powell would be jealous.

53. Repukes are Losers
That graphics displays their losing approach. We are not like them. Democrats/Normal People FIX what's wrong. Although I've had to disagree with folks numerous times here on this.

They think that if something is wrong, destroy it. They are the ones who think destruction is the answer to all problems, not us.

54. Ingrates!
Truth is, there isn't much of anything in that picture we didn't once make ourselves, couldn't still make ourselves or couldn't live without. Maybe if the people in the photo were making all that stuff they wouldn't be so pissed at Wall Street.

65. +200.
The operative phrase being "couldn't still make ourselves"; that is, if our beloved corporocrats hadn't shifted all of the technology to make that stuff overseas, all because mere "profit" wasn't good enough anymore.

61. That is one of the most inane, illogical, sophomoric, backward
graphics I've seen. Oh, her Hubby was a Union member too in the NFL. So's her rich brother in law. You think they'd make millions a year if they weren't? Ask the Iranian soccer team how much their annual salary is.

68. This hit my inbox too. I replied "By your logic, anybody who bitches about taxes shouldn't use..."
... police services, fire services, roads, drink water, use electricity, own property or vote. Because all that is provided by the Government in most places."

Funny... the guy didn't reply. I wonder why.

70. They need to follow up with the rip-offs that each one can
tell the tale of, the 99%ers...corporations are not evil per se, their products are those of the citizens they employ...it's when they invest monied interest in the gov't and have a hand in shaping law that serves their interest, & if Hasselhoff doesn't get it she needs an education.

79. I guess people are supposed to wear potato sacks?
I'm sure the RWers think it's really clever. It's a response to the picture of the tea party protesters with arrows pointing out that taxes paid for the road they're standing on, ligt fixtures paid by taxes, etc.

Yes, admittedly, it IS difficult to get away from these damned huge businesses.
