So, will OWS be coopted by the Democratic party?
Or will it bypass the Democratic party, or will it find some middle ground in between those two option?

1. Far more likely the Democratic Party will Be Co-opted by OWS
just as the GOP was swallowed by the whale of a Tea Party.

Considering that the anti-war movement of the sixties,
With all of its permutations and size was eventually coopted by the Democratic party, I don't think that the party will be coopted by OWS.

Nor do I think that the Tea Party has taken over the Republicans, just forced the party to show its true colors.

11. That was a very different Democratic Party
It worked. It worked for itself and for the People.

This Democratic Party doesn't do either.

7. Now that would be something worth watching.
Somebody has to take the Democrats back to being for the common man.

2. The Dems are already moving towards it with millionaire surtax in Jobs bill
And a call for over turning Citizens United. Plus campaign reform.

6. Why not have the Democratic party join OWS,
Rather than OWS be swallowed, and neutered, by the Democratic party.

13. I think both sides can move toward the other. On some issues
it could be easier to come to an agreement than on others.

8. Ah, the latest scare tactic ....
If OWS is smart they will stay as far away as possible from current politicians.

14. Spoken like Ralph Nader, circa 2000.
Progressives need to join together, not to split apart.

Frankly admitting that is embarrassing at this point. I've never voted for Nader or any other 3rd party candidate - always dem.

And where has that gotten us? For you 1%ers I guess you're happy, the rest of us not so much.

23. I'm not a 1% er and I support the OWS. But if OWS and the Dems
can't figure out a way to present a united front, we'll be handing over the keys to the Rethugs in 2012.

24. You don't have to worry about my vote.
I may not care much about the vote at this point, and may have plenty of criticisms of this government (not just the president), but there's no way I'm deliberately voting any of those reactionary assholes in. It only takes a few minutes to vote and I'll do just on the off chance that they actually count it.

4. OWS is smarter than that
After the Obama betrayal, I think activists are keenly aware of two-faced politicos.

19. It is looking like the OWS platform is becoming more popular than
the Democratic party platform.

Then again, most Democrats believe that the OWS platform is what the Democratic party platform is supposed to be.

We'll be lucky if they incorporate at least some of the ideas of OWS or bother courting their vote in any real way.
