Jon Stewart: How Are The Occupy Wall Street Protesters Not Like The Tea Party?

On Wednesday night’s The Daily Show, host Jon Stewart turned to the Occupy Wall Street protests, explaining that the media’s coverage as gone from “blackout” to its only other setting, “circus,” as reporters from “from all the major networks… and CNN” have made their way down to the live-in demonstration.

1. the protest has gone from anti wall street
to anti chubby middle class policeman. It's a joke. The way to get personhood taken away from corporations is through legislation. The way to disempower Wall Street is to opt en masse out of their system. The taxpayers in New York are the ones who are going to end up paying for this, not the ceos who are probably in their mansions on Long Island laughing about it and manipulating the stock market accordingly.

3. If there was legislation, there would be no need for
protest. And the chubby middle class policemen are beating the shit out of people.

4. Right, Jon. Just like the tea party pissy pants tantrums. And Sister Sarah is just like Mona Lisa.
In your "Look what I can compare to each other, to make a false equivalency" worldview.

6. Did you watch the same video I did?
Because what you describe is not what I saw.

7. In fairness to you, the OP's title is a bit misleading, at first glance...
But that IS the actual title of the piece over at Mediaite...

I suspect that the OP, like Mediaite, used it to garner interest in this EXCELLENT post; it certainly worked for me.
Thing is, you've gotta go check out the vid; believe me, it's WORTH it. Jon Stewart is, as usual, totally on his game here; great writers on that show as well.

To the OP: K&R! And THANK YOU... I happened to miss the Daily last nite, and I'm glad you brought this to my attention.
:toast:

One of the interesting things was Ayn Coulter's comparison to the French (and Russian) revolutions; she doesn't seem to get the fact that she's one of many, mostly on Fox, who seem to be saying of the OWS, "Let them eat cake."

Yes, AYN, it IS a helluva lot like the start of those famous, bloody insurrections... because you've backed almost everyone in this country into a corner, and we didn't WANT to be here, we just wanted a chance to live, and eat, and maybe a warm place to go to the bathroom, huh?... but here the hell we are.
